It's Been a Tough Year for Many of Us

By Ben Lopez — Date: 6/6/2021

It has been a demanding and transformative year for many of us. Again, I would like to apologize for not keeping up to date on the home page. I hope to get back on track by this Fall.

As many of you know I lost my wife to pancreatic cancer in December 2020 and my life has been turned upside down ever since. Soon after that I decided that the rest of my life should be spent with my children and grand-children who all live in Southern California. This goal of mine has been slowly getting to completion. If all goes well I'll be living in my new (built in 1990) home in Menifee, CA.

With all the deaths from Covid, we (Mike Maher & I) have not received many death notices from our group of old printers. That's a good thing. We did receive one notice yesterday from Bill Krakat that Quincy Ewing, III, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2021. For more information check out our Obituary pages or read the obituary on the Washington Post website.

On a brighter note, a group of us met at the Pit Stop Pub in Curtis Bay, Maryland to catch up on each of our lives. Attendees were: Mike Maher, Ed Treine, Russell (Joe) Duncan, Larry Stickler, Joe Neri, Dave Brinkman, Richard Lillard and myself. Russell sent us a link to his YouTube video he created from various retirement ceremonies along with some great background music, that's Melvin Eley (GSDD) on the saxophone. I hope that you will take the time to watch the whole video, it is great!

Every technology, including the printing press, comes at some price.
